Manchester United could have new owners within weeks as it emerges the group of Qatari investors linked with the club are planning to submit a takeover bid as early as Friday.
The Glazers set February 17 as the ‘soft deadline’ for interested parties to submit their offers, and the investors from the Gulf nation are reportedly confident their bid will be the strongest.
Should a deal be agreed to sell the club, United’s new owners could be in place before the end of March, with the group looking to seal a speedy takeover, according to the Daily Mail.
They will however face stiff competition from the likes of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, Britain’s richest man and a die-hard United support, as well as a group linked to the Qatar royal family.
Offers are also expected from the US, while a bid from Saudi Arabia has also not been ruled out.

The Glazers, who have been at the helm at Old Trafford since 2005, have been looking to sell the club since November last year and have valued the club at around £6bn.
According to Bloomberg, the Qataris are readying an opening bid of around £5bn, which they believe has a good chance of blowing their competition out of the water.

The consortium is headed by Hamad bin Jassim bin Jaber Al Thani, Qatar’s former prime minister and ex-head of the Qatar Investment Authority is putting the final touches on a proposal.
They would certainly be able to bolster Erik ten Hag’s transfer budget for the summer too. United look set to qualify for the Champions League, so will have major pull once again in the market.
