REVEALED: UNITED’S PATH TO BUDAPEST

Manchester United have been drawn to face Sevilla in the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The first leg will be played at Old Trafford on Thursday 13 April, with the return fixture in Spain taking place a week later, on 20 April.

United return to Seville after defeating Real Betis 1-0 on Thursday, thanks to Marcus Rashford’s goal. That victory in the Andalusian city completed a 5-1 win on aggregate during the round of 16.

Sevilla, who have on-loan United full-back Alex Telles in their squad, will be the fourth different Spanish side we’ve faced in the competition this year, after Real Sociedad, Barcelona and Betis.

They currently sit 13th in La Liga, just two points clear of the relegation zone, but the Reds are yet to record a victory over the Rojiblancos, who eliminated us from Europe in 2018 and 2020.

Should we get past the six-time winners, a mouthwatering semi-final awaits, against either Juventus or Sporting.

Juve, who have lifted this trophy on three occasions, most recently in 1993, saw off Freiburg to reach this stage, while Sporting shocked Arsenal by beating the Premier League leaders on penalties in north London.

United would be away first in any potential semi-final, ahead of an Old Trafford second leg. The confirmed dates for those games are Thursday 11 and 18 May.

This year’s final will be held at the Puskas Arena in Budapest on Wednesday 31 May.

In the other half of the draw, Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen play Union Saint-Gilloise, the Belgian outfit who are enjoying a remarkable first European campaign since the 1960s.

There’s a repeat of last year’s Europa Conference League final in the final tie, as Eredivisie leaders Feyenoord take on Roma.

The Giallorossi beat the Rotterdam club 1-0 in Tirana last May to claim the inaugural edition of that trophy under Jose Mourinho.

QUARTER-FINAL DRAW

UNITED v Sevilla
Juventus v Sporting
Bayer Leverkusen v Union Saint-Gilloise
Feyenoord v Roma

Ties to be played 13/20 April.

SEMI-FINAL DRAW

Juventus/Sporting v UNITED/Sevilla
Feyenoord/Roma v Bayer Leverkusen/Union Saint-Gilloise

Ties to be played 11/18 May.

READ TEN HAG’S REACTION

“So we go back to Seville. As you say, they have a very good record,” Ten Hag told reporters at his Friday press conference.

“We have to be aware of it. So it’s going to be tough because they are really experienced in the Europa League, winning it so many times. I don’t know their team now in detail so I have to focus on that.

“But for me the most important [game] is Fulham and I don’t look forward to Sevilla because first we have an international break and then we have three Premier League games, so there is much time to focus on that.

“But definitely I think all the opponents who come to this stage of the Europa League are strong. You have to play your best football if you want to go through. It’s definitely the case if you face Sevilla.”
