CONFIRMED: UNITED’S GOAL OF THE MONTH FOR APRIL

Jadon Sancho’s first-half opener against Tottenham Hotspur has been crowned Manchester United’s Goal of the Month for April.

The winger received the ball on the left flank before cutting inside and firing an unstoppable effort into the bottom corner, giving Spurs goalkeeper Fraser Forster no chance.

The arrowed finish gave the Reds the lead in a fixture that eventually ended 2-2, and this award caps what has been a good month for Jadon overall.

It’s the second time this season Sancho has earned the accolade, having previously topped our poll back in August.

THE CONTENDERS

Sancho’s goal against Spurs gleaned 31 per cent of the vote, while our other strike in that match – Marcus Rashford’s emphatic left-footed shot – was the second most popular entry.

Marcus’s explosive pace and devastating drive was enough to gain 27 per cent of the vote from our fans.

Diogo Dalot’s second-half effort away at Nottingham Forest (11 per cent) occuped third place in the poll, while Scott McTominay’s opener against Everton (nine per cent) finished fourth.

Shea Lacey’s solo run and sublime finish was the highest Academy effort on the list with seven per cent, while Millie Turner’s crucial last-gasp header at Aston Villa for United Women was backed by six per cent of voters.

As the Reds enter May, with all of our teams completing the 2022/23 league fixtures, there is every chance that our final Goal-of-the-Month competition will be closely contested once more.

Congratulations on your April win, Jadon, and thanks to everyone who voted!
