TEN HAG ENTERS GOAL OF THE SEASON DEBATE

Have you cast your vote for Manchester United’s Goal of the Season yet?

The polls are open until Monday 29 May, which is when the club’s annual awards dinner will be held at Old Trafford.

While manager Erik ten Hag didn’t want to sway the voting for the main Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year prize, the boss was more than happy to discuss which type of goals he usually prefers his team to score.

Alejandro Garnacho’s strike against Wolves on Saturday was our 100th under the Dutchman, so there have been plenty of efforts to choose from.

Ten Hag liked the teamwork and build-up that went into Anthony Martial’s opener but also cast his mind further back, to September, and a strike which is actually one of the 10 in the running for the men’s Goal of the Season…

“I saw a stat which said we are the fifth-most scoring team in Europe, all across Europe, so I don’t think it’s a problem,” he began, when discussing our scoring with MUTV’s Mark Sullivan, during his exclusive matchday interview before our trip to Bournemouth.

“We create definitely very good chances and we know also we have to be more clinical, but still we scored a lot of goals. And I think we scored a lot of good team goals.

“I think on Saturday against Wolves, the [goal for] 1-0 was an example. Many players were involved to score that goal. It was about building up from the back.

“A goal that is still in my head is a goal against Arsenal, the goal from Antony dos Santos. It was such a great team goal where I think almost all the players on the pitch touched it before we scored a goal.”

Antony’s debut strike did indeed include the entire United starting XI, from David De Gea in goal to Marcus Rashford, who provided the eventual assist for the Brazilian.

You can vote for it below or choose from one of the other nine efforts from players including Bruno Fernandes, Garnacho and Rashford…
