Carrick gets Man Utd job – but does he deserve it? And what happens now?

# Carrick Gets the Permanent Gig – And He Bloody Well Deserves It!

Right, let’s get one thing absolutely straight – Michael Carrick has EARNED this job. Full stop. No debate.

When our season was circling the drain back in January, sitting in shambles after that disastrous first half of the campaign, Carrick stepped up when we needed him most. The club was in crisis mode, we were flirting with mid-table mediocrity, and the mood around Old Trafford was darker than a Manchester winter evening.

What did our Michael do? Only went and won 11 out of 16 matches as interim Head Coach! He dismantled City, outclassed Arsenal, and beat Liverpool – proper statement victories that reminded everyone what this club is capable of when the system clicks and the lads play with pride.

Third place and Champions League qualification seemed like a pipe dream when he took the reins. Yet here we are, back among Europe’s elite for 2026-27, and there’s genuine optimism buzzing around the club again.

The man understands United DNA because he IS United DNA. He knows what it means to wear that shirt, he’s learned from the best, and crucially – the players have responded to him. Bruno’s looked revitalized, Mainoo’s continued his development, and even Rashford’s shown flashes of his brilliant best under Carrick’s guidance.

Sure, some will question whether his relatively thin managerial CV warrants a contract through 2028. But you know what? Sometimes the right person is already in the building. Sometimes you don’t need the flashy name or the continental pedigree. Sometimes you need someone who gets this club, who bleeds red, and who’s already proven he can deliver results when the pressure’s on.

INEOS and Omar Berrada have made the right call here. Now it’s time to back Carrick properly in the transfer market and build something special. The foundation’s there – let’s see what heights we can reach!
