# The One That Got Away: Why United Should Be All Over Alex Scott

Listen, we’ve all seen the pattern by now. Young British midfielder tearing it up at a mid-table club, consistently performing against the big boys, and yet somehow we’re watching from the sidelines while our rivals circle. Sound familiar?

Alex Scott at Bournemouth is exactly the type of player we should be moving heaven and earth for right now. The lad played 625 out of 630 possible minutes in matches where the Cherries nicked points off Arsenal, City, Liverpool, Chelsea AND us last season. That’s not a coincidence. That’s a statement.

While we’ve got genuine quality in the middle with Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings, Kobbie Mainoo emerging brilliantly, and Manuel Ugarte adding steel, we need depth and competition if we’re serious about challenging on multiple fronts. Youri Tielemans brings experience, but Scott represents exactly what Michael Carrick’s system thrives on: energy, technical ability, and the mentality to shine when the lights are brightest.

The “scrawny-looking kid” tag is pure nonsense when you watch him dictate tempo against elite opposition. He’s the complete package, and at 20 years old, he fits perfectly into our rebuilt squad philosophy. We’ve got young talents like Mainoo already showing what they can do. Imagine pairing them with Scott’s dynamism in a Champions League campaign.

Here’s the brutal truth: if we don’t move for players like this, our top-four rivals will. We’ve already seen Scott McTominay leave for Napoli, and while that freed up wages, we can’t afford to miss out on his natural replacement in the market. INEOS and Omar Berrada have backed Carrick brilliantly so far, but pre-season is the time to strike.

The elite clubs are circling. We should already be at the front of the queue. Get it done.
