# Carra Still Living in Denial: United’s Squad Evolution Has Him Rattled

Right, let’s address Jamie Carragher’s latest bit of Scouse wishful thinking, shall we? The Liverpool legend reckons their best XI still edges ours heading into the new campaign, but you can practically hear the nerves creeping into his voice when he admits they desperately need more depth before the window slams shut.

Here’s what Carra conveniently forgets: Michael Carrick has transformed this squad since taking over permanently in May. Our Head Coach secured Champions League football with a brilliant run that saw us dismantle City, Arsenal AND Liverpool. That’s not luck, that’s a proper system clicking into gear with players who finally understand their roles.

Look at the firepower we’ve assembled. Benjamin Šeško leading the line, supported by Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings in midfield alongside Youri Tielemans and the sensational Kobbie Mainoo. At the back, we’ve got Matthijs de Ligt partnering Lisandro Martínez with the exciting Leny Yoro pushing for minutes. Patrick Dorgu has added genuine quality at left back to compete with Luke Shaw.

Meanwhile, Liverpool are scrambling to add bodies because they know their squad can’t handle a proper title challenge plus Champions League football. Carragher basically admitted as much! They’ve got a strong starting lineup, sure, but football isn’t played with eleven players anymore. It’s about depth, rotation, and tactical flexibility.

Neville clearly wound him up something proper during their Sky debate, and you love to see it. The truth is, United finished third last season despite all the mid-season chaos, and we’re only getting stronger. Carrick has us playing with identity and purpose again.

Let Carra cling to his delusions. Come May, we’ll see whose XI looks better when the trophies are handed out.
