**Baleba’s Arrival Keeps United Fans Guessing**

Reds, we’ve got ourselves another intriguing subplot heading into the 2026-27 campaign! Carlos Baleba has signed on the dotted line but won’t be pulling on the red shirt just yet. The waiting game begins for our latest midfield addition, and honestly, after the transformative finish Michael Carrick orchestrated last season, we’re in no rush to panic.

Let’s be real here. Carrick earned his stripes the hard way, didn’t he? Taking over in January after Amorim’s departure and steering us to third place with Champions League football secured was nothing short of brilliant. That run of 11 wins from 16 matches, including massive victories over City, Arsenal and Liverpool, proved he’s got what it takes. Now he’s got the permanent gig until 2028, and he’s building something special.

The midfield situation is fascinating. We’ve already got Bruno Fernandes pulling the strings, Youri Tielemans adding experience, and the exciting Kobbie Mainoo continuing his development. Manuel Ugarte and Mason Mount provide options, while Andrey Santos adds depth. So where does Baleba fit in? That’s the million dollar question. Carrick clearly wants to assess his options carefully rather than rush anyone into the starting XI.

Meanwhile, Sunderland heading to the San Siro for Europa League action is a lovely story for football romance, but our focus remains firmly on Champions League glory. We’ve got the squad depth now with Benjamin Šeško, Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo joining Marcus Rashford in attack. The defence looks solid with Matthijs de Ligt, Lisandro Martínez and young Leny Yoro.

Baleba will get his chance soon enough. For now, let’s trust in Carrick’s process. He’s earned that faith tenfold.
