# Carrick Stands Firm: Stop the Knee-Jerk Reactions, Reds!

Michael Carrick isn’t having any of the negativity swirling around Old Trafford after our opening day stumble at Hull. The gaffer came out swinging, calling criticism of the team “lazy and easy” following that disappointing 2-0 defeat. And you know what? He’s got a point.

Yes, losing to Hull wasn’t in the script. Yes, it stung watching such a flat performance. But let’s get some perspective here, people. This is the same Michael Carrick who dragged us from mid-table chaos to third place last season, who got the better of Guardiola, Arteta and Slot when it mattered. The man earned his permanent contract by winning 11 of 16 matches as interim boss and securing Champions League football for this campaign.

Now journalists are circling, questioning whether Bruno Fernandes and Youri Tielemans showed enough leadership. Carrick rightly dismissed this nonsense. Bruno has been our heartbeat for years, carrying this team through some dark times. Tielemans just arrived and needs time to settle into the fabric of this squad. Expecting them to single-handedly turn around one bad performance is the definition of lazy punditry.

It’s one game, folks. ONE GAME. We’ve got quality throughout this squad now: Benjamin Šeško and Matheus Cunha leading the line, Kobbie Mainoo continuing his meteoric rise, the defensive solidity of De Ligt and Martínez. Patrick Dorgu arrived to bolster our backline options. This team has depth and talent.

Carrick’s backing of his captain and new signings shows he won’t be swayed by the hot-take merchants. We’ve got Ipswich up next, and you can bet the lads will be fired up to prove the doubters wrong. Keep the faith, Reds. This journey is just beginning.
