# Carrick Admits United “Hurting” After Atletico Defeat Extends Winless Run

Lads, this is not what we signed up for. Michael Carrick has come out and said what we’re all feeling: the boys are hurting after that 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. Five games without a win. Five! This is Manchester United, not some mid-table outfit scrapping for survival.

The Head Coach isn’t sugar-coating it, and fair play to him for that. Carrick knows the standards at this club better than most, having worn the shirt with pride for over a decade. He understands what it means to pull on that red jersey, and right now, his squad isn’t living up to the expectations we all have.

Look, we’ve got quality in this team. Bruno Fernandes should be driving us forward, Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Šeško gave us genuine firepower last season, and the midfield addition of Youri Tielemans was supposed to add control and creativity. Carlos Baleba wearing that iconic number 20 shirt should be bossing games alongside Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo. Instead, we’re watching a side that looks devoid of confidence and ideas.

The Champions League was meant to be our stage to shine this season. After all the investment from INEOS and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, after the work Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox have put in rebuilding this club properly, we cannot afford to be spinning our wheels like this. Five games without a victory is simply unacceptable for a club of our stature.

Carrick got the permanent job in May for a reason. The board believed in his vision, his understanding of United DNA. But belief only gets you so far. Now he needs results, and he needs them fast. The question is: can he turn this around before the pressure becomes unbearable? The fans are hurting too, Michael, and our patience is wearing thin.
