Hits & Misses: Mbeumo is Man Utd’s only reliable goalscorer as Eze struggles

# Mbeumo Carrying United’s Attack: One Man Can’t Do It All

Listen, we all knew Bryan Mbeumo was class when we brought him in, but watching him become our only consistent goal threat this season should have alarm bells ringing at Carrington.

The Cameroonian has been absolutely brilliant since arriving at Old Trafford. Now in his second season wearing the red shirt, he’s showing exactly why Omar Berrada and the INEOS hierarchy identified him as a priority target. His movement, his finishing, his work rate: everything you want from a modern forward. The problem? He can’t do it alone, and right now it feels like he’s trying to.

Look at our attacking options. Marcus Rashford continues to blow hot and cold, unable to find that killer consistency we desperately need from our homegrown talisman. Joshua Zirkzee is still finding his feet in English football, while Benjamin Šeško, despite flashes of quality in his second season, hasn’t quite clicked into the ruthless goal machine we hoped he’d become by now.

Matheus Cunha offers creativity and link-up play, sure, but goals win matches. When you’re competing for Champions League football and silverware, you need multiple players hitting double figures. Right now, Mbeumo is shouldering a burden that should be shared across our entire front line.

Michael Carrick has done tremendous work since taking permanent charge in May, but this is the challenge he needs to solve. We’ve got the midfield sorted with Bruno Fernandes pulling strings and the new additions of Youri Tielemans and Carlos Baleba adding quality and depth. The defence looks solid with De Ligt, Martínez and Yoro. But football’s simple: score more than the opposition.

If we’re serious about challenging for titles, we need Rashford rediscovering his mojo, Šeško stepping up, and everyone chipping in. Mbeumo’s brilliance deserves support, not isolation. Come on, lads, give him some help!
