# Como Under Fabregas: A Test That Shows How Far We’ve Come

Right, let’s talk about Monday’s opponents and why this fixture is more meaningful than it might first appear. Como, now managed by Cesc Fabregas of all people, have made an absolutely remarkable climb up the Italian football pyramid. From Serie D to Serie A in what feels like the blink of an eye, and now they’re preparing to face us with genuine belief rather than just hoping to keep the score respectable.

Fair play to them, honestly. Fabregas has clearly brought something special to Lake Como beyond just his name. They’re not just surviving in Serie A, they’re playing with identity and purpose. The kind of project that makes you sit up and take notice. But here’s the thing: we’re Manchester United. We’re not here to admire someone else’s fairytale story when we’ve got our own narrative to write.

Michael Carrick has had the summer to properly stamp his authority on this squad, and with the additions of Carlos Baleba and Youri Tielemans in midfield, we’ve got depth and quality that should be making light work of these fixtures. Benjamin Šeško is entering his second season looking absolutely lethal, Matheus Cunha has settled brilliantly, and Bruno continues to pull the strings.

This is exactly the kind of match where we need to be ruthless. Como might have ambition, they might have a legendary midfielder turned coach on the touchline, but ambition doesn’t win you matches at Old Trafford. Quality does. Intensity does. The weight of this badge does.

We’ve seen too many seasons where we’ve made hard work of the so-called smaller sides. Under Carrick, that needs to be ancient history. Como’s rise is admirable, truly, but Monday night should be about reminding everyone exactly where Manchester United belongs: on top, dominant, and absolutely unforgiving.

Time to make a statement, Reds.
