Erik ten Hag’s men will be hoping to bounce back from Thursday’s narrow defeat at Brighton, when Alexis Mac Allister’s late saw the home side clinch all three points.
Here are all the key details you need to know ahead of our clash with the Hammers in the capital…
HOW CAN YOU FOLLOW THE GAME?
Our match against West Ham is scheduled to start at 20:00 SAST at the London Stadium. Fans in South Africa can watch the action unfold live on SuperSport.
Our Match Day Live show will also bring you exclusive pre-match insight and post-match analysis, and it will begin at 18:55 SAST on MUTV. You can watch Match Day Live on ManUtd.com and in our app, with live radio commentary available throughout the 90 minutes.
WHEN CAN YOU SEE THE HIGHLIGHTS?
Two-minute highlights of the game will be available two hours from the final whistle, with 90 in 20 and Full 90 versions published at midnight (UK time).
The boss may provide a further update on the fitness of the 18-year-old Argentinian in his pre-match press conference ahead of our clash with West Ham on Friday.
Donny van de Beek – who recently said he was “not far away” from being back – and Lisandro Martinez working towards returning in time for the beginning of the 2023/24 season.
West Ham will be hoping to welcome back a handful of first-team members after multiple players were forced to miss their 3-0 midweek loss to Manchester City due to illness. Declan Rice, Tomas Soucek, and Nayef Aguerd were among those affected by the virus outbreak in the Hammers’ camp, and could be in line to return on Sunday.
Vladimir Coufal had to be replaced in that loss at the Etihad Stadium after a hamstring concern, while Kurt Zouma and Gianluca Scamacca are set to be unavailable for Sunday’s meeting with the Reds.
Ten Hag is hopeful that Raphael Varane will be back before the season ends.
FORM GUIDE
The Reds come into this game in search of three points to boost our chances of securing Champions League football for next season. After a slim defeat to Brighton in midweek, Ten Hag will no doubt be looking for a reaction from his players to earn what would be our 20th win in the league this term.
West Ham, on the other hand, have been drawn into a relegation fight at the bottom of the table where every point counts. In 15th, Moyes’s men are just four points above 18th-placed Nottingham Forest. The Hammers have suffered three defeats since their last win and will be looking to take one step closer to Premier League safety by picking up points against the Champions League-chasing Reds.
WHAT HAPPENED LAST TIME WE MET?
The last time we went head-to-head in the league, a sole Marcus Rashford goal was the difference. Our no.10 nodded home emphatically from a sublime Christian Eriksen cross just before half-time.
Our fifth-round FA Cup encounter provided goals aplenty in comparison, where Ten Hag’s men ran out 3-1 winners in front of the Old Trafford faithful.
Said Benrahma opened the scoring for the visiting side 15 minutes into the second half, but an Aguerd own-goal levelled the standings with not much time to go.
Here is how the bank holiday weekend is shaping up around the grounds in the Premier League, including a big fixture between our top-four rivals Newcastle and title-chasing Arsenal…

WHY A DEFENDER COULD COME UP TRUMPS
While we haven’t seen too many goals from defenders at Manchester United this season, the timing would be perfect if one of them can rise to the occasion as we approach the final five games of the 2022/23 campaign. Diogo Dalot showed it can be done when scoring a brilliantly worked goal in the 2-0 win […]
Erik ten Hag insists that his Manchester United side have to take things “game by game” as we enter the business end of the season. In a post-match interview with Sky Sports, the boss insisted he does not look beyond the fixture at hand when it comes to making in-game decisions. With Sevilla to play […]
Midfielder Christian Eriksen believes Manchester United will respond positively to a frustrating 1-0 defeat at West Ham United. After losing to a late penalty last time out at Brighton on Thursday, the Reds were hopeful of returning to winning ways in the capital, but Said Benrahma’s sole strike was the difference on a difficult evening […]
