# Tielemans Settling In Perfectly: “It’s Just Smelling Football”

What a breath of fresh air to hear a new signing speak with such confidence and ease! Youri Tielemans has declared that adapting to Michael Carrick’s vision at Old Trafford has been as natural as “smelling football,” and honestly, that’s the kind of mentality we need in our midfield.

The 29-year-old Belgian, who arrived from Aston Villa for £35m last month, brings a wealth of experience to our squad. And when you’ve made your professional debut for Anderlecht at just 16 years old, you’ve seen it all. Tielemans isn’t some wide-eyed youngster overwhelmed by the Theatre of Dreams. He’s a seasoned professional who knows exactly what he’s bringing to the table.

His pre-season debut in the 1-1 draw against PSG in Gothenburg might not have been a fairytale start, but getting minutes on the pitch during our tour is crucial for building chemistry with Bruno Fernandes, Kobbie Mainoo, and the rest of the lads. The fact that he’s already talking about settling in naturally speaks volumes about the environment Carrick has created since taking the permanent Head Coach role in May.

Remember, this is the same gaffer who took us from mid-season crisis to third place and Champions League football. His ability to get the best out of players is already proven, and Tielemans clearly feels that connection.

With Manuel Ugarte and Andrey Santos also in the mix, our midfield options are looking stronger than they have in years. Tielemans’ experience and technical quality should provide exactly the kind of composure and creativity we need alongside our younger talents.

As pre-season continues, watching Tielemans gel with the squad is genuinely exciting. If he’s already this comfortable, imagine what he’ll be like when the Champions League music starts playing at Old Trafford in a few weeks. The future’s looking bright, Reds!
