**Carrick Signals January Spending: United to Target Defensive Reinforcements**

Michael Carrick has opened the door to potential January business, and honestly, it’s music to our ears. The Head Coach isn’t sitting back and hoping for the best. He’s already looking ahead to strengthening what needs fixing, and that defensive unit is clearly on his radar.

Look, we’ve brought in some quality over the past windows. Leny Yoro has massive potential, and Matthijs de Ligt brings that experience we desperately needed. But let’s be real: if Carrick and the technical team believe we need more steel at the back, then we back them 100%. This isn’t about panic buying. It’s about smart planning, something we’ve lacked for far too long under previous regimes.

What’s refreshing is the proactive approach. We’re not waiting until crisis point, we’re not scrambling in August with days to spare. Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox have clearly built a structure where Carrick can identify gaps and the club will actually listen. That’s the INEOS difference right there. Strategic, methodical, professional.

The January window is notoriously tricky, but if there’s quality available that fits Carrick’s system, we absolutely need to pounce. We’ve got Champions League football back, we’re competing on multiple fronts, and squad depth will be tested like never before. Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martínez have been solid, but injuries happen. One or two knocks and suddenly we’re stretched thin.

The fact Carrick is talking openly about defensive improvements tells you he’s not satisfied with just making top four. He wants to challenge, properly challenge, for silverware. That ambition is what we’ve been craving.

January can’t come soon enough. Let’s trust the process, back the gaffer, and get the reinforcements in to mount a serious title push in the second half of the season. Come on United!
